    # THE SHARED WALL
    ## Episode 9: “ONE WALL, FOUR STORIES”
    ### INT. APARTMENT HALLWAY - MORNING
A CONTRACTOR in a hard hat measures the paper-thin wall between three apartment doors.
TESSA, MARCUS, NISHA, and OWEN watch from a safe distance, as if he’s measuring a bomb.
The contractor taps the wall. Every apartment hears it.
    A beat.
Four startled faces appear in four doorways.
    CONTRACTOR
Good news. The wall is coming down Friday.
    Silence.
    Then—
    TESSA
    Good news?
    MARCUS
    That wall is load-bearing emotionally.
    NISHA
Where will I hang my emergency notes?
    OWEN
    Where will the wall go?
    CONTRACTOR
    Dumpster.
    OWEN
    I meant emotionally.
The contractor hands Tessa a notice and walks off.
    Tessa reads it.
    TESSA
“Removal will improve airflow, lighting, and privacy.”
    MARCUS
    Privacy.
He looks at the others, suddenly horrified.
    MARCUS (CONT’D)
    We could become strangers.
    NISHA
We already know too much about each other to start over.
    OWEN
I know Marcus has a fear of escalators.
    MARCUS
That was one time. It moved unexpectedly.
    ### INT. TESSA’S APARTMENT - LATER
A celebratory banner reads: “CONGRATULATIONS ON OUR IMPENDING PRIVACY!”
Tessa sits for a mockumentary confessional, holding a champagne flute.
    TESSA
I’m thrilled. Finally, I can sneeze without receiving medical advice from three rooms away.
From the other side of the wall—
    NISHA (O.S.)
    You should drink more water!
    Tessa freezes.
    TESSA
See? This is exactly what I mean.
    ### INT. SHARED WALL / THREE APARTMENTS - MONTAGE
    — Marcus practices whispering. He immediately shouts.
    MARCUS
    Can anyone hear me?
    — Nisha places noise-canceling headphones on a potted plant.
    — Owen draws a bold line on the floor: “MY SIDE.” He steps over it, panics, steps back.
    — Tessa closes her door. Everyone celebrates silently.
    ### INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT
    A single, tiny sound:
    DRIP.
    Everyone emerges.
A drip lands from the ceiling into a mixing bowl.
    NISHA
    There’s water.
    MARCUS
    Call the landlord.
    TESSA
    My phone is dead.
    OWEN
    Mine’s in the wall.
They all stare at the wall.
    Another drip.
    MARCUS
    We need the emergency bucket.
    NISHA
    It’s in my apartment.
    TESSA
Your apartment is no longer accessible from mine.
    OWEN
We have a system for this.
They try to coordinate by shouting down the hallway.
    TESSA
    Nisha, get the bucket!
    NISHA
    What?
    MARCUS
    She said get the blanket!
    OWEN
Why would she need a blanket?
    NISHA
    I heard “get the trumpet!”
    MARCUS
Why do you have a trumpet?
    NISHA
Why do you think I have a trumpet?
The leak suddenly becomes a stream.
    They scramble.
Owen produces a frying pan. Marcus grabs a laundry basket. Tessa holds up a decorative vase.
    NISHA
    Those are not emergency containers!
    TESSA
    They are now!
    ### INT. HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER
The leak is contained beneath a chaotic tower of bowls, pans, and one trumpet.
The four neighbors sit on the floor, soaked and exhausted.
    OWEN
    We solved it.
    MARCUS
We used every dish in the building.
    NISHA
    And nobody called anyone.
    Tessa looks toward the wall.
    TESSA
    We didn’t need to.
    A beat.
The wall gives a soft CREAK.
    Everyone leans toward it instinctively.
    TESSA (CONT’D)
    Not yet.
    MARCUS
Right. We should enjoy our privacy while we still can.
A tiny drip lands in Owen’s lap.
    OWEN
    It’s asking for help.
They all stand and rush toward the wall.
    ### INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
The contractor’s demolition notice hangs crookedly.
Nisha silently turns it upside down.
    MARCUS
    Friday?
    TESSA
    We have forty-eight hours.
    OWEN
    To save the wall?
    NISHA
To remember how to live without it.
    They exchange a look.
From behind the wall, a muffled sneeze.
    ALL FOUR
    Bless you!
    They smile.
    CUT TO BLACK.
